As Vice President of Alter Construction Management, Tracy Nicholas leads the delivery of highly complex and sophisticated projects where keen organizational skills are key to success. On the owner's behalf, she guides the process from concept through completion and coordinates with the architects, engineers, consultants and vendors by applying strategic planning and program-management principles. |

Ms. Nicholas, who previously was Regional Quality Manager at Bovis Lend Lease, joined The Alter Group in 2003. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Stage Management from Columbia College, as well as a Master of Science degree in Strategic Organizational Change from Northwestern University. |

Nicholas has been responsible for facilitating on-site partnering sessions with up to 70 stakeholders participating to ensure successful relationships among diverse groups on some of the industry’s most complex projects. These include the 1,700,000 SF Hyatt Center, the 850-room Hotel Intercontinental and the Council for a Parliament of World’s Religions, where she facilitated more than 30 project teams in successfully implementing project programs.
A certified instructor, Nicholas has trained thousands of employees and clients in various sessions including classes in leadership skills, team management, problem solving, communication, project planning and facilitation. As a regional manager, Nicholas gained significant experience in turning quantitative information into graphic and visual display through the management of Balanced Scorecards and other tracking and monitoring tools in five offices, overseeing hundreds of project-tracking systems.
Nicholas has provided program-management and strategic planning and implementation services for the Biograph Theater renovation for Victory Garden Theater, and for the $28,000,000 renovation of the Chicago History Museum, including all exhibit, media and technology work. She was the production manager for the construction of the Skyline Stage at Navy Pier in Chicago. Nicholas is currently providing strategic-planning, transition-management and project-management services for the Muntu Dance Theatre Performing Arts Center, the DuSable Museum of African American History and the Joel Hall Dancers and Center. |
